Auckland > The Coromandel > Bay of Plenty > Rotorua > Auckland 4 Days / 3 Nights

Ocean splendour on the Pacific Coast Highway and geothermal wonder on the Thermal Explorer Highway.

DAY 1:  Auckland to The Coromandel

Depart Auckland on the Pacific Coast Highway and enjoy a relaxing start as you cruise around the Firth of Thames to The Coromandel. Drive time: 1 ½ to 2 hours. An overnight in the historic town of Thames will allow you to get the sense of the goldmining heritage of this area.

DAY 2:  Hahei to Tauranga

Enjoy a morning in Hahei on the eastern coast, perhaps a boat or kayak trip to Cathedral Cove or dig your own natural spa at Hot Water Beach. Remember you need to be there at low tide to access the geothermal waters deep below the sand. Make your way to Tauranga. Drive time: 2 hours 30 minutes. Overnight in Tauranga from a choice of accommodation . A spectacular Waimarino Glow Worm Tour is a great way to spend the evening. There is a wide range of activities in the Bay including wildlife cruises.

DAY 3: Tauranga to Rotorua

Your morning should include a walk up and around Mauao for a view of famous Mount Maunganui Beach. Head off through the rural landscapes to Rotorua. Drive time: 1 hour. Well-known for exciting geothermal activity and soothing spas, there is a wide range of accommodation and activities to choose from.

DAY 4:  Rotorua to Auckland

You have a full day in Rotorua today and you will need it.  Maybe a lake walk or cruise, immersing yourself in Maori culture, visiting the geothermal areas for a relaxing spa or a full-on adrenaline adventure at OGO or Velocity Valley. Drive time to Auckland: 3 hours 20 minutes.

Make time to stop off at Waitomo Caves, a must do in New Zealand.
