After your transfer to Eastwoodhill Arboretum from Gisborne, begin your day with a walk around the magnificent gardens. When ready, get on your bike, prepare for a change of pace as you head down Ngatapa Hill, an exhilarating downhill. Wind your way back to Gisborne through vineyards and wineries, enjoy a vineyard platter & wine tasting along the way. Make your way to the Sunshine Brewery, Gisborne’s iconic craft brew house.

Guided or supported, Best time - summer, Intermediate ride. This one day escape starts with a transfer into the hills at Rere Rockslide, the famous 60m-long natural rockslide which features on the 100 ‘must do’ list in NZ.
Once you’ve had your adrenalin fix you can head off on your bike for a more relaxed visit to the spectacular Rere Falls. A great spot where you can enjoy your picnic lunch. After lunch is a 14 km hilly ride to Eastwoodhill Arboretum, stop, enjoy a walk around the magnificent gardens. When you are ready, prepare for a change of pace as you cycle down Ngatapa Hill - exhilarating. Wind your way back to Gisborne through quality vineyards and wineries to finish at the Sunshine Brewery.

This seven day escape follows SH2 from Matawai through to Opotiki and then cruises SH35, the Pacific Coast Highway to Gisborne. Stunning coastal scenery, nature, and cultural experiences abound on this adventure. The tour starts and finishes in sunny Gisborne and includes guided trips up the Motu River, Maunga Hikurangi (the sacred mountain of Ngati Porou) and Cook’s Cove (the spot where in 1769 Lieutenant James Cook replenished the Endeavour) with local Hauiti guides.
