The Explore Central North Island ‘macro’ marketing alliance was formed in 1998 by seven Central North Island Regional Tourism Organisation.
The Seven regions are:
- Tourism Coromandel
- Tourism Bay of Plenty
- Tourism Eastland
- Hawke’s Bay Tourism
- Visit Ruapehu
- Destination Lake Taupo
- Destination Rotorua
- Hamilton & Waikato Tourism

Explore Central North Island produces a CD-ROM which includes images from all the seven regions as well as logos for Explore Central North Island, Pacific Coast Highway, Thermal Explorer Highways and Volcanic Loop of New Zealand.
These images can also be viewed in our Image Gallery, the images are high resolution and able to be downloaded.
Visiting media programme
Explore Central North Island is happy to assist visiting media in conjunction with the 7 regional tourism organisations that form the Pacific Coast Highway, Thermal Explorer Highway and the Volcanic Loop.
International media should first contact Tourism New Zealand prior to visiting New Zealand; they are able to provide media with a wide range of assistance. They have both consumer and travel industry & media web sites.
