The National Army Museum Te Mata Toa tells the important story of how New Zealand’s military history helped shape our nation. This world class museum has a very rich collection of artefacts to support personal stories of courage, honour and sacrifice and visitors will learn New Zealand’s military contribution over the last 180 years. Ideally placed on the main road halfway between Auckland and Wellington and as part of New Zealand’s largest military training camp. The Museum overlooks the active volcanoes of Mount Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe and the Tongariro National Park. Services include: personal guided visits, Café, Gift Shop, Roimata Pounamu Memorial, and extensive medal, weapons and vehicle collections.
